Join us for the New Statesman’s panel discussion on ‘How can addressing long term conditions boost the economy and build an NHS fit for the future?’ in association with Takeda.
Date: Wednesday 12th March
Timings: 16:00-17:00
Location: Lecture Theatre, One Birdcage Walk, SW11 9JJ
Takeda has provided sponsorship funding to support this event but had no editorial control over the meeting content and participants.
Alongside an expert line up from across Westminster and beyond, this panel discussion will discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with tackling overlooked LTCs as part of the 10-Year Plan for both the health and wealth of the nation.
Long terms conditions are a central issue for the Uk’s health and social care policy. Indeed, the Labour Party’s manifesto commitment to build an NHS fit for the future with fewer lives lost to the ‘biggest killers’ puts LTCs squarely on their agenda. However, overlooked LTCs that might not be front and centre of the policy agenda, and receive less prioritisation than the ‘biggest killers’ like CVDs, can also have a significant impact on patients.
Confirmed speakers for the panel include:
- Sarah Tilsed, Head of Partnerships and Involvement at the Patients Association
- Dr Beccy Cooper, Member of the Health and Social Care Select Committee
- Charlotte Refsum, Head of Health Policy at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.
