Event overview

We are pleased to invite you to attend the New Statesman’s Prevention and Innovation Reception, held in partnership with the British and Irish Hypertension Society.

Bringing together a senior invited audience of parliamentarians, health leaders and stakeholders from academia, regulation and industry, the reception will focus on how innovation can support the shift from sickness to prevention, with particular attention to blood pressure, digital health and wearable technologies in cardiovascular care.

Timed to coincide with World Hypertension Day and the wider May focus on blood pressure awareness, the event will explore how prevention-first approaches and community-based care can help improve outcomes while easing pressure on the NHS. This comes at a moment when blood pressure monitoring, digital health tools and wearable technologies are becoming an increasingly important part of earlier intervention and better long-term cardiovascular care.

As the UK’s leading expert body on blood pressure measurement and monitoring, BIHS is helping to shape the future of cardiovascular prevention, including through its work on blood pressure technology and the safe, effective integration of wearable innovation into care pathways. For more information on BIHS’s wearables programme, please visit the programme page.
